Geoffrey B. Small BRC08 Handmade Pure Alashan Cashmere 3-ply Fully-Lined Como Silk Long Coat – LABELS

This special “Uccelli” lining edition of the GRC08 handmade topcoat is the only piece of its kind crafted worldwide this year, created exclusively for LABELS. The design is based on a single-breasted, 3-button notched-lapel classic long coat pattern from extensive tailoring research. It is made from 550-gram 3-ply Alashan pure cashmere coating cloth, woven by Fratelli Piacenza 1733 SpA in Pollone Biella, Italy, the world’s oldest and most respected cashmere mill. The coat is lined with a pure silk 16-momme raso satin fabric featuring the exclusive “Uccelli” bird and floral print, created by the Brenna family in Como, Italy. Both fabrics were hand-dyed at the GBS Superworkrooms in Cavarzere Venezia, with over 10 hours of expert craftsmanship to achieve their colors, patina effects, drape, and plush softness.

The topcoat features handmade working surgeon’s cuffs, hand-cut besom welt and flap pockets, a tailored center vent, and a hidden lapel button for versatile styling in cooler weather. Generous 2.5 cm seam allowances on major seams allow for size adjustments up to one full size larger. The impeccably finished interior includes hand-sewn hems and closures, while real horn buttons, custom-made by Claudio and Cinzia Fontana in Parma, enhance the coat’s sophistication. Ten hand-stitched buttonholes, crafted with pure silk Bozzolo Reale Seta Milan threads and requiring 10–14 minutes each, highlight the meticulous detailing on the lapel, pockets, and label.

The coat also features a pure silk hand-dyed label by Mion SpA in Torreglia, the first in the luxury industry to eliminate plastic polyester yarns, attached entirely by hand with silk threads. Variations in color and density reflect the artisanal fabric and crafting techniques. Buttons and buttonholes should be handled with care. Professional cleaning or gentle handwashing in cold water is recommended, avoiding machine washing or drying.
